How can I help?

  • Donate to our 'Fighting Fund'

In the past year we have been trying to raise money to purchase the land that is known as Bonds Meadow from the National Trust. Sadly, our offer was rejected and instead the National Trust have accepted an offer from a housing developer. Many donors told us to keep their donations but unfortunately, we are not allowed to do so.

Now that we have entered this next phase of our campaign we need a ‘Fighting Fund’ to continue our work in opposing any plans that are put forward for housing to be developed on this land. We have set up a Crowdfunder page to gather donations from our supporters that can be accessed by clicking the button below.

We would like to assure you that any donations received will be used to fund literature, surveys and maybe even legal advice. Any money remaining at the end of the campaign will be used for nature conservation projects in Devon.

Whilst the National Trust, who were bequeathed this land, have accepted an offer from a housing developer, the offer is contingent on the developer gaining suitable planning for development on the land.  We want to save the land instead and will fight for every tree and dormouse upon it!

We would be extremely grateful for your support.

Our mission is simple. We want to make sure that the area remains a town asset for every one of us to enjoy, forever. We want to make sure that the mature trees that grace the land are not cut down and that the hundreds of species that call this space their home are protected against habitat destruction. We acknowledge the fact that we live in a time of great ecological instability; and that the protection of these wild spaces is of utmost importance. We are “standing up for nature” - just as the National Trust claim to.

We want to negotiate with the National Trust and persuade them to stand by the ecological principles that underpin their cause. We aim to persuade the Trust to reverse their decision to sell this site for development and we appeal to them to work constructively with us in order to protect this precious wild space. We intend to challenge both the principle and process of a conservation charity selling this land for housing development, following no engagement with the local community.
